PublicationSupporting Distance Education Through Policy Development( 2000) Commonwealth of LearningDuring this course, we will introduce you to ways in which national educational policies can support distance education practices. We hope to provide you an in-depth introduction to distance education concepts –as well as the related concept of open learning. We will also explore some of the issues you will need to consider in implementation of distance education programmes. We will situate this introduction within a context of national policy-making, in order to help you understand better the relationship between good quality distance education practices and enabling national policy frameworks and mechanisms.

PublicationTechnical and Vocational Teacher Training Core Curriculum( 2002) Commonwealth of LearningThis document was produced with technical/vocational education and training representation from 14 countries and substantive input from eight Caribbean technical colleges and administrative bodies, in collaboration with CARICOM. It provides a distance education training programme for technical and vocational teachers, addressing the core pedagogical needs of the four levels of teachers in this field. Technical and Vocational Teacher Training consists of 12 modules containing multiple units each. Every unit consists of a learner guide and a tutor guide. Contents: Module 1 - Language and communication ; Module 2 - Administration and management of TVET ; Module 3 - Instructional techniques ; Module 4 - Learning resources ; Module 5 - Educational theory and practice ; Module 6 - Distance education ; Module 7 - Workshop organisation and management ; Module 8 - Safety ; Module 9 - Entrepreneurship ; Module 10 - Applied computer science ; Module 11 - Practical teaching ; Module 12 - Action research // All files are compiled into one zip file to centralise all learning materials.

PublicationLearning for MDGs: Online Modules( 2005) Commonwealth of LearningThis on-line module is developed by the Centre for Environment Education in partnership with and support from the Commonwealth of Learning, Vancouver, Canada. The purpose of this website is to provide Education and Communication professionals with useful resources on Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development. Given that Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are the focus of the coming Decade and many of its goals overlap with the Decade for Education for Sustainable Development, this online module seeks to include information about both. It gives Education and Communication professionals the basic introduction to the Decade as well as the eight MDGs. It also presents case studies from different parts of the world giving examples of how a particular MDG has been achieved at a local, regional and national level.
