The aim of this course is to equip you with skills on how to design and install home solar systems. In Kenya, Solar PV systems have a vibrant market. Unfortunately, the sector does not have enough trained and experienced practitioners who can design and install systems. It is dominated by non-specialist technician who have no solar PV training. As a result, most solar systems installed in the country perform poorly and eventually fail, leading to the widespread perception in the market that solar systems do not work. Therefore, the goal of this course is to improve access to training and produce professional technicians in Solar PV System. // This technician course is designed for practicing electricians who have basic skills in electrical, mechanical or electronics field. The course lays emphasis on developing practical and theoretical knowledge and skills in basic solar PV technology, products and systems.

Beauty Care is a course for livelihoods skills training designed for neo-literates and persons having limited reading skills. The course materials include a training manual for teachers and a handbook for trainees. The materials were created by the Center for International Education and Development (CINED) and published by Dhaka Ahsania Mission with support from the Commonwealth of Learning. The materials are in Bengla and are designed keeping consistency with Pre-Vocational Level-2 of the National Technical and Vocational Qualifications Framework (NTVQF) in Bangladesh.

Beauty Therapy Courses from Botswana

The Botswana Technical Education Programme (BTEP) is managed by the Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (DTVET) in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. BTEP is outcomes-based and is designed to provide both, pre-employment training for secondary school leavers and, training for those in the workplace who aspire towards attaining a qualification. The programme has been developed in cooperation with employers to ensure a match between training and skills needed by industry. BTEP consists of 25 vocational areas at 4 levels, Foundation, Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Diploma. One of the vocational areas is Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy. In order to expand access to TVET in Botswana, staff from Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education and Gaborone Technical College developed print based distance learning modules. DTVET has committed to produce open education resources and has made three Certificate level modules available.
