Abstract
Global Forum of the Observatory of Borderless Higher Education, Kuala Lumpur, 21-24 October, 2009 By Sir John Daniel (Commonwealth of Learning) and Ms. Stamenka Uvalić-Trumbić (UNESCO) // Drawing on their personal experiences – going back to the 1960s – as cross-border students, managers in higher education and officials in intergovernmental organisations, John Daniel and Stamenka Uvalić-Trumbić will present cross-border education as a vehicle for individual and institutional empowerment. Their focus is on strengthening education in developing countries and advancing the interests of students. Discussion of some of the key practices, policies and models in the global market and proposals for action against degree mills will be nourished by reflections on global CBHE initiatives that they have been involved in.
