Authentic Assessment in a Changing World: Considerations for Open and Distance Learning

Abstract
This Knowledge Series publication argues that authentic assessment in open and distance learning should use more real-world, context-specific tasks, clearer rubrics and staged submissions. Educators should set explicit rules for acceptable generative artificial intelligence (AI) use, require evidence of learners’ thinking and process, avoid relying on AI alone, and design assessment that is fair for diverse learners.
