Abstract
This paper examines in service teachers perceptions of the effectiveness of the Open Distance Learning (ODL) as an alternative mode for training and upgrading primary school teachers located in remote areas of Samoa. A survey questionnaire containing closed and open ended questions was distributed to 22 primary school teachers who were enrolled in a pilot ODL Science course as part of their bachelor
program. Findings suggest that ODL in its blended mode seems to be an effective method of delivery to address the training needs of teachers residing in remote areas. // Paper ID 253
