Abstract
This on-line module is developed by the Centre for Environment Education in partnership with and support from the Commonwealth of Learning, Vancouver, Canada. The purpose of this website is to provide Education and Communication professionals with useful resources on Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development.
Given that Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are the focus of the coming Decade and many of its goals overlap with the Decade for Education for Sustainable Development, this online module seeks to include information about both. It gives Education and Communication professionals the basic introduction to the Decade as well as the eight MDGs. It also presents case studies from different parts of the world giving examples of how a particular MDG has been achieved at a local, regional and national level. The module illustrates the contribution that Education and Communication can make in the processes of achieving the goals of the Decade and the MDGs. // Course contents: Module 1: Halving Population Reeling Under Poverty and Hunger ; Module 2: Ensuring Full Primary Education for All Children ; Module 3: Eliminating Gender Disparity in all Levels of Education ; Module 4: Reducing under-five Mortality Rate by two-thirds ; Module 5: Reducing Maternal Maternity ; Module 6: Halt and Reverse the Spread of HIV/AIDS, and Halt and Reverse the Incidence of Malaria and Other Major Diseases ; Module 7: Better Environment, Better Life ; Module 8: Establishing Global Partnerships
