Optimising a Vital Contribution to the Expansion of Higher Education

Abstract

Much of our thinking is summarised in a paper that we published in Change: The Magazine of Higher Education in 2006. One of the key themes of that paper, which is the focus of our short address to you now, is the absolute importance of encouraging private institutions to contribute to that expansion and of building an integrated higher education sector that includes public and private providers, both for profit and not for profit.
